  • What kind of insurance do you accept?

We accept most insurance plans. We will submit your claim to the insurance company on your behalf.  We cannot guarantee payment of services or the amount you will be responsible for.

  • What can I expect at my first appointment?

The first appointment at ACFS is considered a diagnostic assessment (sometimes referred to as an intake, evaluation). We ask that clients arrive 20-30 minutes early to fill out paperwork. During this meeting, we hope you feel comfortable sharing your story, the difficulties you are experiencing, and ask any questions you might have.  During the second session, you, your family/support, and your clinician will talk about treatment planning and what you would like to get from psychotherapy. Other topics include scheduling, financial arrangements, and other aspects of informed consent. Hopefully, you are able to decide if that clinician is the best fit for you. Most sessions last 55 minutes. Feel free to utilize our intitial intake paperwork found on this website!

  • I'm a caregiver. Will I be involved in my youth's care?

The support a client has in their life plays a significant role in positive change! Parents/caregivers are extremely important in children’s lives, in deciding what change looks like in the family culture, and in measuring progress! As a caregiver, please take time to check in with your child's clinician each session. Caregiver contribution is so impactful, and your child depends on you to be an active part in their mental health journey. Family engagement and caregiver participation in session may be requested so the clinician can provide information about your child's individual needs and to discuss treatment planning. In some circumstances, a more formal utilization of family therapy (with a different agency clinician) may be recommended in order to best maintain boundaries and respect to both the child and the family, while offering additional support. Your clinician will discuss Parent/Caregiver Informed Consent during your first session. Please feel free to ask any questions you have including but not limited to: informed consent, treatment planning, outcome measures, and treatment intervention.

  • What qualifications need to be met to activate Children's Therapeutic Support Services?

For a family to qualify for Children's Theraputic Support Services (CTSS), the child and caregiver must endorse symptoms and be given a diagnosis of a severe emotional disturbance. Often children who qualify for CTSS also benefit from other resources including mental health case management, psychiatric care, and psychotherapy. A diagnostic assessment  completed within the last year is necessary to qualify for CTSS services. If a diagnostic assessment has not been completed within the past year, we can provide an initial outpatient appointment to complete this service and determine if CTSS in-home services would be an appropriate fit for the child/family.

  • How long does a therapy session last?

Therapy sessions typically last 50 - 60 minutes.
